Champions League wrap – Goals, wins and betting lessons

Matchday 3 of the UEFA Champions League continued in thrilling fashion on Wednesday, as heavyweights flexed their muscle while a few sides faltered, leaving punters plenty to unpack.

Liverpool delivered the night’s most emphatic response, hammering Eintracht Frankfurt 5–1 away to end a run of four consecutive defeats. Hugo Ekitike scored against his former club, while Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté both struck from corners. Liverpool’s resurgence, after being priced at 2.00 on Betway, rewarded backers who stuck with the Reds despite recent form. Overs bettors were also smiling, the total sailed well past the 2.5 line.

Chelsea matched Liverpool’s 5–1 scoreline, dismantling Ajax at Stamford Bridge. Three penalties and an early red card for Ajax turned the match into a one-sided affair. Marc Guiu, Moisés Caicedo and Enzo Fernández all found the net, with teenagers contributing heavily. Chelsea’s win, priced at 1.29, reaffirmed their dominance at home, while alternative markets like Chelsea win & over 3.5 goals (previously around 2.15) delivered significant value.

Elsewhere, Bayern Munich maintained their perfect record with a 4–0 rout of Club Brugge, led by Harry Kane’s 20th goal of the season. Real Madrid edged Juventus 1–0 at the Santiago Bernabéu courtesy of Jude Bellingham’s strike, keeping Madrid’s 100% record intact and rewarding win-to-nil backers.

Tottenham Hotspur were the only English side not to claim victory, drawing 0–0 away at Monaco. With Betway offering 3.70 for a draw pre-match, punters who backed the stalemate were rewarded. Thomas Frank’s Spurs remain unbeaten in Europe but lacked clinical edge, while Monaco’s disciplined setup under new boss Sébastien Pocognoli impressed.

Elsewhere, Sporting CP turned a red card advantage into a 2–1 win over Marseille, and Galatasaray’s Victor Osimhen struck twice in a 3–1 victory against Bodø/Glimt. Athletic Bilbao’s comeback 3–1 win over Qarabağ capped a night of goals and betting opportunities.

For punters, Wednesday underscored two key takeaways, overs remain a reliable market across Europe, and in-form favourites like Bayern, Madrid, and Chelsea continue to justify short odds with consistency.
