PSL preview – Chiefs, Pirates, Stellies in action

Midweek PSL drama looms as Pirates aim to close the gap, Chiefs look to steady form, and Stellies battle to escape danger.

Orlando Pirates vs Polokwane City

Orlando Pirates have the opportunity to go within three points of league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns when they host Polokwane City on Wednesday. Pirates have played seven matches to Sundowns seven and will look to bounce back from a heavy defeat to FC Saint-Eloi Lupopo in the CAF Champions League with a statement on their PSL return.

Betway have Pirates as heavy favourites, with odds of 1.77 for a win, while a draw is valued at 4.40 and Polokwane are backed at 5.00. Polowane City are level on points with Pirates but have played nine matches. In their last outing, they suffered a 4-1 loss to Durban City in the Telkom knockout but closed out a 1-0 win against Sekhukhune United in the PSL.

Kaizer Chiefs vs Siwelele FC

Siwelele FC travel to Johannesburg where they will face off against Kaizer Chiefs. Chiefs are sitting in fourth place, level on points with Pirates and six points off Sundowns but have hit an patchy-run of form in all competitions.

With just one win and three draws in their last five matches, Chiefs have been unable to find that clinical edge. Siwelele are hanging near the bottom of the table just one point ahead of Stellenbosch and Chippa United in the relegation zone. Betway have Chiefs as favourites, valuing a home win at 1.77. A draw has odds of 3.25, while Siwelele are backed at 5.00.

Stellenbosch vs Golden Arrows

The final match on Wednesday is a must-win clash for Stellenbosch against Golden Arrows. Again the home side are comfortable favourites on Betway, with Stellies valued at 1.72 despite sitting in the relegation zone six points behind Arrows. A draw is showing odds of 3.40 and an Arrows away win is valued at 5.20, the lowest of the three away sides on show.
