Red cards and late penalties defined Premier League round 25, as Arsenal maintained their lead, City struck late at Anfield and pressure mounted at both ends of the table.

Title race

The headline fixture saw Manchester City clinch a 2–1 comeback win at Anfield against Liverpool, with Erling Haaland converting a stoppage-time penalty after Dominik Szoboszlai’s free kick had given the Reds the lead. The victory narrows the gap to league leaders Arsenal and injects fresh life into City’s title bid.

Arsenal continued their title bid with a 3–0 win against Sunderland, keeping up their dominant run at the summit and extending their lead, while Bournemouth and Aston Villa played out a 1–1 draw that keeps Villa in the hunt for European places.

European push

At Old Trafford, Manchester United beat Tottenham Hotspur 2–0, taking advantage of Spurs captain Cristian Romero’s first-half red card for a reckless challenge on Casemiro. With Romero dismissed early, United controlled the game and strengthened their push towards the top four.

In a dramatic clash at St James’ Park, Brentford came from behind to beat Newcastle 3–2, a result that boosts their European hopes while compounding Newcastle’s league struggles, marking their third consecutive loss.

Chelsea kept their top-four push on track with a controlled 3–1 win at Wolves, striking early and managing the contest with authority. Wolves rallied briefly, but Chelsea’s pace and quality told after the break.

Crystal Palace snapped a long winless run by defeating Brighton 1–0, with Ismaila Sarr’s goal lifting them above their rivals and providing breathing room in the bottom half.

Relegation battle

Leeds United’s 3–1 win over Nottingham Forest was one of the weekend’s most crucial results. Goals from Jayden Bogle, Noah Okafor and Dominic Calvert-Lewin saw Leeds move nine points clear of the relegation zone, easing pressure on Daniel Farke’s side in 16th, while Forest’s defensive issues deepen as they edge closer to trouble.

West Ham secured a 2–0 victory at Burnley, adding valuable points in the mid-table fight, and Everton edged Fulham 2–1 to build on recent form under David Moyes.
