Keo’s accumulator – history says go big on southern hemisphere

The All Blacks, Australia and Argentina are all underdogs heading into the weekend. History would have something to say about that.

If you woke up on Sunday and found out that the All Blacks had beaten England, Australia had beaten Ireland and Argentina had beaten Scotland, you wouldn’t be surprised. So why the northern hemisphere sides are so heavily favoured, I don’t quite understand. England, Ireland and Scotland are all good sides, but not good enough to overlook history entirely.

New Zealand sit at 2.10, Australia 4.90 and Argentina 2.45.

The All Blacks have won four of their last five games at Twickenham, and they have beaten both Ireland and Scotland already on the end-of-year tour. Australia have lost their last three games to Ireland by four points or less. Argentina put 52 points past Wales last weekend. Scotland have never done that in 131 games against the Welsh, in fact their largest point-total in the fixture is 35 points (a 35-7 win in Feb 2023).

Look, I’m not saying you will wake up on Sunday to a southern hemisphere clean sweep, but it is not far beyond the realm of possibility. So for a combined total of 25.91, bloody hell, take a flutter. History, more often than not, is the greatest marker of outcome at Test level.

Pick: All Blacks, Australia, Argentina to win @25.91
