Senegal vs Sudan – AFCON 2025 bets to bank on

The knockout phase of AFCON 2025 kicks off with favorites Senegal battling it out against Sudan at the Grand Stand de Tangier.

Senegal remain unbeaten after finishing top of Group D with seven points, while Sudan qualified as one of the best third place teams from Group E. The Lions of Teranga are favorites to qualify for the quarterfinals for a fourth time in their last five AFCON appearances.

Sudan stunned the continent by qualifying for the knockout stages having won only two games in their last 19 at the continental showpiece. They will be wary of the fact that they have never managed to beat Senegal in seven attempts, though Pape Thiaw’s charges should not be underestimated.

Team news

Both sides are expected to field their strongest 11 here with a spot in the AFCON 2025 quarters on the line. Kalidou Koulibaly is the only notable absentee from the Senegal side as he is suspended after being sent off against Benin. The attacking trio of Ilman Ndiaye, Ismaila Sarr and Sadio Mane will start.

Sudan on the other hand will be without Abobaker Eisa and Adil Salaheldin through injury.
