World Cup playoff – Cameroon vs DR Congo best bet

Thursday’s final CAF World Cup playoff fixture sees regulars Cameroon take on a defiant DR Congo in Morocco at 10pm at the Al Barid Stadium.

Congo are seeking to make a first appearance at the FIFA World Cup since the 1974 edition in West Germany, when the nation was still known as Zaire.

Cameroon have the African record of World Cup appearances (8) as they seek to return after faltering at the Group stages in Qatar 2022 despite a famous 1-0 victory against Brazil.

The Indomitable Lions finished second in their group after a barren draw against Angola in their last game and are desperate to return to winning ways.

Congo on the other hand guaranteed their second place finish with a hard-fought 1-0 win against Sudan in their final group game.

The newly built Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, which will host the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final on January 18, will be the venue for the CAF playoff final this Sunday.

Cameroon captain Vincent Aboubakar and Manchester United forward Bryan Mbeumo are the key figures in their attack and will need to be at their best to get a win here.

Congo have not managed a win in their last five matches against Cameroon, losing three times and getting a point in the other two games.

Tips and prediction

Without home advantage playing a part here, both teams are expected to leave it all out there and with the potential both teams show going forward, goals can be expected here.

Both teams have also found the back of the net in their previous head to head encounters and the same can be expected.
