West Indies host New Zealand in the third ODI in Guyana on Thursday, with the series level after New Zealand’s five-wicket win in the second match.
Match context
New Zealand levelled the series on a spin-friendly pitch, with Jayden Lennox taking 5-19, the third-best figures by a New Zealand spinner in men’s ODIs, to bowl West Indies out for 138. West Indies lost all ten wickets for 75 after Campbell and Auguste had added 63 for the first wicket.
New Zealand wobbled at 96-5 in the chase before Latham and Bracewell steadied the innings. Latham finished 37 not out while Bracewell passed 1000 ODI runs. The nine wickets shared between New Zealand’s spinners was the most in an ODI innings by the Black Caps.
West Indies have the batting depth to respond. Shai Hope averages 99.4 in his last ten ODIs, while Carty and Hope’s 131-run third-wicket stand in the first match remains the clearest evidence of what this line-up can produce. Campbell top-scored with 43 in the second match despite the overall collapse.

Betting angle
New Zealand at 1.57 is fair value given their second-match dominance and Lennox’s form. Shai Hope at 5.20 for top batsman is compelling given his recent average. Alzarri Joseph at 4.05 for top bowler is the standout market given his 4-41 in the first match. New Zealand most fours at 1.65 reflects their top-order approach on good pitches.

The takeaway
West Indies were outplayed on a difficult surface but hold home advantage and a stronger batting unit on good pitches. This third ODI should be the pivotal match of the series.
